Specialities
Aubin Farm has a "No Waste policy" & this means using everything that is produced. Vegetables which are
not sold are processed into tasty chutneys and pickles. Some examples are
Rhubarb Chutney
Bean Chutney
Green Tomato Chutney
Beet Chutney
Hot Garlic Pickle
Carrot and Chilly Pickle
Salsa
Roses
We have a small greenhouse where we grow beautifully scented roses, as cut flowers, organically. They are available mid May to early November.
Woolen Blankets
The sheep are sheared once a year usually in September so they have their insulated jackets for the summer which helps keep them cool and deters flies.
The fleece is then taken by us to P.E.I. for processing at the MacAusland Woolen Mill into blankets of many different colours or yarn (if there is a special order). We stock blankets in three sizes - lap, 48” x 60”, double, 72” x 90” and queen, 76” x 104”. Any other sizes can be ordered as a special order for the next time we go.
Sheep Skins
When the sheep are sent to the butchers we are able to retrieve the skins which are salted before being transported to Atlas Tanning for processing into sheep skins.
Specialty Cooking
Vegetables and meat produced on the farm are also the basic ingredients for Roshan's Indian cuisine which is cooked to order for collection from the farm. The only exceptions to this rule are Samosas and pakoras which can be delivered with our other deliveries and are also sold at the farmers’ markets.
